Some students were busy during lockdown making remembrance images for ANZAC, this poppy looks fantastic, especially with it's own stand.  Looks like we might be stealing this idea Tayten for next year. Tino pai to mahi.

All tamariki and there whanau are welcome to join our Zoom meetings everyday at 11oclock.  They last around 30 mins and we just go over our site, I answer any patai and tamariki get a chance to catch up with their classmates face to face.  I will conduct a short lesson on any one of the curriculum areas if there is limited conversation.

The Zoom invite is shared to each tamariki and the link is found in their email.  Please feel free to join in.

Tena koutou Whanau

Just wanted to touch base with each and everyone of you to let you know what is happening in regards to our kura.  I hope everyone is safe and secure in their bubbles and getting through this lockdown with a few laughs and lots of rest.

At the moment we are waiting for more information from MOE on what Level 3 is going to look like.  We have been asked to pass on the following information:

1.   If and when we are allowed to open, tamariki of essential workers or tamariki that do not have anyone to care for them at home will be allowed to come to school.
2.  If you do not need to send your tamariki to school then please keep them at home and continue with distance learning.
3.  Please let me know whether anyone has received the government hard copy school work packs being dispatched around the country.
4.   If your child's device is still at school and needs to be dropped off.
5.   When staff are allowed on site, I will know whether school devices will be given out to tamariki with no devices (we are still waiting for chargers for some of these).

I hope this helps, but at the moment, the school is NOT open.  Please continue with mahi on the class site, which can be accessed through our School Site.  Any tamariki that have completed mahi can send it through to me by email  nickola@kaikohewest.school.nz  They need to save their mahi to their own 2020 folder in their own drive as well.

Thank you for your time, please feel free to ring or email me at anytime, and also if you have access to google hangouts, I am on their as well, just send through a request and I will accept it.  This way I can talk to the tamariki face to face.

Please stay safe inside your bubble and hopefully we will be moving forward shortly.

Nga mihi nui kia koutou.

Tena Koutou Katoa

I hope this finds everyone AOK, and in their bubbles of security and happiness.

While the whole country is in lockdown I want to share with you (my class) your mahi during this lockdown.

On our classroom site  you need to go to Kainga Wahanga 2 (Term 2).  There is a link called Mahi Kainga.

Please click onto that link and it will go to a presentation.

This presentation will hold your mahi, whether it is Panui, Tuhituhi or Pangarau for the following weeks.  Please check properly.

You may complete this mahi in any order that you like.  I have chosen studyladder and sunshineonline because I am able to monitior your progress.

Tuhituhi will be given through a shared document.  Please just write on your own line which has your name in the first column.
I will select topics in which to write about or set tasks for you to complete.

If you have to make a copy, please save it to your drive under Mahi 2020.  Please share a copy to me so I can check and make comments.

PLEASE, PLEASE stay safe, follow the rules and we will all come through the other side.  I am so looking forward to seeing you all again soon.  If I can work out how to video myself, I will try and upload some of those.  Until then, nga mihi kia koutou.  Stay safe and be KIND.

Whainga Ako:  utilise what we find in our garden so we are not letting kai go to waste.

 From Garden .......
To Frying Pan ......
 To stomach ...

Tagging as we know it, this is our first day and our first attempt at making Puipui for Okaihau College, so we started with learning how to cut, then we had to learn how to tag and then we have to learn how to roll the Moka at the top so it can be woven into the band.  Wow, this is such a privilege to be a part of.  Love it.

The following is a collection of videos that the tamariki have compiled showing their title page for GTT and why they do GTT.  Please view and leave a comment, this is the first of many videos they will be making throughout their journey with growing and caring for our planet.
