We attended the Waitangi Museum during our Wananga and because it rained and rained we did a couple of inside activities. One of them was to make a harakeke fish. The process was alot harder than it looked but we all managed to complete our task. Here we are with the initial folds.
Wow what a great experience weaving harakeke! It is such a special plant for New Zealand. Lots of Rongoa also. Do you know the waiata by Hirini Melbourne called Hutia? It is a beautiful waiata that we sing at our school. Learning is so cool when you can do it for yourself! Kia maia, Kia Manawanui, Kia Kaha!
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comment Michelle, I am intrigued, will look this waiata up now. Enjoy the learning.
